Bio

I am originally from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and I moved to Mobile in 2009 to attend the University of South Alabama. After receiving my B.A. in Foreign Languages and Literatures (Spanish Concentration) in 2012, I moved to Illinois to pursue my M.A. in Spanish Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I received my M.A. in 2014, and since then I've started developing curricula for the Spanish classroom that incorporate research-backed methods to support language acquisition. I have taught for almost 10 years. I started at the college level but later fell in love with teaching high school. I love what I do, and I strive to bring my passion to the classroom every single day. See the "Can you talk tacos?" handout in the Documents section for more on my teaching philosophy and focus in the classroom. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy studying meteorology and traveling. I'm the Treasurer of the Alabama World Languages Association (AWLA), and I'm on the World Languages Advisory Team within MCPSS. I teach Spanish 1, 2, 3, 4, and Dual Enrollment Spanish at CHS, and I sponsor the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (National Spanish Honor Society). I'm a proud member of Wildcat Nation. Go Wildcats!
